They do not have another NES style controller in their lineup for the PC (I have the one that has a NES controller shape but the 4 buttons are placed like a SNES controller or any modern one - cross shaped - the 8bitdo NES30, that they don't sell anymore, but it's not the same as playing with an original NES gamepad because of the position of those buttons). why they don't advertise this controller for windows. 8bitdo didn't make a simple driver tailored for windows Start Nestopia UE with nestopia. There are minor problems, for exemple, pressing the left shoulder button and then the right one triggers my Windows 10 to ask me whether I want to shutdown my pc for some reason lol (I think this is because there driver isn't tailored for PC). I was able to use it with Retroarch without issues. I was shocked to learn that there are some functions of NEStopia that can only be operated with a game controller (such as rewind and quick freeze). Just press start for 3 second, then select for 3 seconds, then the blue light will flash rapidly. I bought another one, and it paired without issues to my pc's Bluetooth. So the first N30 I bought was defective, that is why it would not pair with my PC. Any thoughts on how I can get around it? I'm happy to hack/test a bit if it helps-I kinda know my way around code, but I'm not a developer. As the title says, I would like to use a N30 bluetooth NES controller with my PC, but I cannot get a definitive answer on whether it would work, or if I need an adapter, such as the usb 8bitdo Wireless Adapter, or if it is just not possible at all.Įdit : Thank you all for you replies. I'm really enjoying nestopia other than this one really annoying behavior. I tried commenting out all buttons besides A and B in both the nf and nf files, but this didn't seem to help either-the files were overwritten by the app on close anyway. I reviewed the conf files to see if there was anything undocumented. If I understood the changelog correctly, it seems the rewind functionality was mapped to a gamepad button in 1.49, so I built 1.48 in the hope that it would be similarly awesome to 1.49, but without the rewind issue-unfortunately 1.48 would only segfault every time I tried to load a ROM. If you only want to emulate a few things, get a controller for that system. 2) get a few to cover most all emulators. 8Bitdo devices (get the latest firmware and use Mode 1/Joystick Mode by holding the START button to power on).Logitech series (Dual Action, Rumblepad 2, Gamepad F310/F510/F710).Retro-Bit Official Sega Genesis/Sega Saturn Bluetooth Controller 8-Button. The issue here is the button layouts and labels get annoying. If your Logitech controller has a switch on the back, it must be set to DirectInput (D). I've tried remapping the controller buttons in the nestopia UI, but to no avail. 1) Get one over all controller for all emulators. I have experienced the same behavior regardless of whether I install nestopia from a repository or build it from source. (NOTE: I guess it could be prevented by not hitting the Y button, but I'm unironically using an NES emulator. This happens 100% of the time with every game I've tested, and cannot seem to be prevented, or interrupted. I'm on Fedora 29, though I don't suspect that'll be relevant.Įvery time my thumb accidentally hits the "Y" button on the controller, it causes nestopia to rewind the previous minute or so of whatever game I'm playing. It seems to have completely disappeared from their site, but I assume it's similar to their other controllers. Its held together by two snap together tabs. After removing the screws pry the case apart towards the trigger button. Step 3: Taking the Controller Apart Start by removing the 4 tri-wing screws behind the battery door. I'm using nestopia 1.49 with an 8Bitdo NES30 controller-the one that looks nearly identical to a vintage NES controller, but has four buttons (A/B/X/Y) and connects via bluetooth. The Dolphin Bar stores the Bluetooth sync information so you wont have to re-sync later on even if you change computers.
